Who we are

We are certified athletic trainers that provide services to athletes and active individuals who are motivated and in need of care for their bodies to achieve optimal performance. We are health care professionals that are devoted to giving athletes high quality care they deserve and need to be successful and healthy. 

What we do

Elite Sports Recovery provides athletes of all ages and expertise affordable access to the latest state-of-the-art recovery equipment, once only available to the elite level athletes. Our evidence-based recovery methods are used to deliver high-quality care by enhancing the healing process, preventing future injury, and optimizing performance.

Kaitlin Carlson MS, LAT, ATC

Kaitlin Carlson MS, LAT, ATC

Certified Athletic Trainer & Co-Owner

Kaitlin became a Licensed and Board Certified Athletic Trainer in 2012 from Millikin University, while she also played for the Women’s Basketball team. She graduated from James Madison University in 2014 with her Master’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management, while also providing Athletic Training services to the Dukes’ Swimming & Diving team.

Kaitlin has 10 years of experience, including an internship with the WNBA Chicago Sky, as well as, previous collegiate positions with Upper Iowa University and Bradley University. Most recently, she served as the Athletic Trainer at Dunlap High School.

Kaitlin resides in Peoria with her wife and two children. She’s a Chicago sports fan and enjoys traveling and experiencing new places with her family, especially camping and hiking in the National Parks.

Mike Gehringer LAT, ATC

Mike Gehringer LAT, ATC

Certified Athletic Trainer & Co-Owner

Mike graduate from Northern Illinois University and has been a Board Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer since 2006.

With over 16 years of experience, Mike has experience working with professional, collegiate, high school, youth and recreational athletes. Most recently, he served at the Head Athletic Trainer for Illinois Central College (ICC) for 5 years. Prior to that, he spent 10 years working as a full-time Athletic Trainer for Dunlap High School and 2 years as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Peoria Pirates.

Mike lives in Washington and enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. He enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, pickleball and going to the beach, cooking, BBQing and attending his kid’s games & activities. He’s an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls fan.
